R. David Craig
Director of Interior Design
David earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design at the University of Georgia in 1990. Since joining Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects in 2004, David has directed interior design services from our Baltimore office for a range of projects including farm and estate, historic preservation, commercial, and residential. In this capacity he oversees project management, design, budgeting, specification, acquisition, and installation. David has completed projects in London, New York, Washington D.C., Virginia, Georgia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Texas, Maryland, Florida, and California. His work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Vogue, USA Today, Home & Design, Southern Home, and Virginia Living.
Before joining the firm, David served as Design Consultant for Traditions in Tile in Atlanta, Georgia. He was responsible for company-wide showroom design and trade sales, both commercial and residential. He then worked for ten years as Assistant Manager and Design Consultant at Stark Carpet, where his experience included resort, hospitality, commercial, and residential projects.
David draws inspiration for his designs from the balance, harmony, and scale of European classicism. His keen sense of color, eye for detail, and rich use of texture combine to create interiors that are both comfortable and alluring. David’s extensive knowledge of decorative arts enables him to work closely with clients to realize their personal visions.
