This 1840s four-story Italianate structure, a contributing building to the Historic Court Square area of downtown Charlottesville, was in disrepair and poorly configured to accommodate modern office requirements. In collaboration with state and local historic preservation authorities, we renovated the structure to provide our client Class A office space for his company’s headquarters. The first step in this meticulous restoration was resolving the lower level’s moisture problems, thereby creating comfortable new leasable space in an area previously used for storage. Historic preservation tax credits contributed to the financial success of the project.
