Our clients asked us to adapt this historic property for casual family living and reorient the house toward its spectacular landscape and mountain views. Dalgliesh Gilpin Paxton Architects reworked both interiors and exteriors; opened central living areas to a large new terrace facing the mountains; and incorporated accessory buildings, including a new pool house, to extend living and recreational areas out toward the views. At the owners’ request, we integrated classic Adam-style detailing in the living room and Greek Revival detailing in the remainder of the house, both befitting a fine 1850s home.
